Track Your Projects Through Stashby ^Katara-Alchemist

EDIT, June 1st 2012: I added a couple things based on feedback I'd gotten. I added a way to mark things as mature content, in case you're working on a mature content piece. I also added progress bars so that you can track your projects without stretching out your page with a ton of thumbs if you so choose. What do you guys think?

So some of you may have seen my "Current Projects Progress" widget on my profile page. (If not, go to my page and scroll down a little, it's on the left side.) I'm very fond of the widget, but it's a pain to set up due to having to embed each deviation from stash since we can't use thumbs from stash, and then there's the coding for all the boxes and titles and yada yada yada. So I decided to make a mockup of a real version of this widget, where everything is already set up and all you have to do is set up a few easy options.

With this you would be able to easily create and track different projects through stashed deviations. The widget would be accessible by both premium and regular members, but premium members would be able to have up to four projects shown while regular members could only have up to two.

I think this is something that a lot of people would find very useful. Many people already clutter their galleries with progress shots of their different projects, this widget would get rid of some of that gallery clutter while still allowing the artist to showcase what they're working on and how far along those projects are.

So, what do you guys think? Would you use it? Why? Why not? Is there something you think could make it better? Even if you hate it, tell me!

This is a brilliant idea, and I hope to see it on my page in the near future.

Questions:

Does one have to re-upload the pictures in the box every time, or are all the pictures in the box stored ? Or is there a button that lets one choose which?

(Assuming the deviations are stored in the box) will deviants be able to go back and remove or update images in the project box?

Once a project is completed, do deviants have to remove everything manually, or will there be a "I am finished with this project; clear project (# of project) so I may start a new one" button?

Suggestions:

Make it so the deviant's page shows one project at a time, and have <- -> arrows and a slideshow function. This will save space on the deviant's page, which I know has received some comments already.

Minor one: Add another segment to the progress bar so there is 10 segments (there only appears to be nine in the picture; 10 will mean it is easily converted into percentage) or make it so deviants can select the number of segments in the bar (the bar would remain the same length, just be divided into more pieces). Or, just allow the deviant to select a percentage, which would be displayed on the progress bar (Maybe that can be a premium perk)

This is a great idea! You made me think like:"Why didn't i think of this?" Which is a good thing, but, there are some negative sides to this concept.

Let me share my vision with you on this.

Concept

The concept is great, both visually and text wise. I think anyone can understand what this is about etc. well done, plus, it looks really professionally done, like its always been here on dA, 5

's for technique miss.

Idea

The idea is simple, yet thought trough. Showcasing your current WIPs trough widgets, it cant get more simple than that, right?

Again, well done, but i must say i don't agree with the fact non-premium members should have this feature. Or, lets even it out, because 4 of these massive blocks will greatly increase the size of one's deviant-art page, plus it will (in my case) make me not scroll all the way down to "comment, thank, etc." I'd reduce the amount of W.I.P. blocks to 2, 1 for non-premium members, 2 for premium members.

Now we have another problem. Bluntly said, porn. I didn't see you include a Mature Content Filter, because some people on this site and with some i mean many

like to draw ... suggestive pictures. And other photographers like to post nudes as well, if they post a nude on the widget or someone posts yoai/yuri whatever its called, people and i mean children can see it. It would be a bit funky to not have a M.C.F. on this

Just pointing that out.

Finalization

Like i described earlier, the idea and concept is great, outstanding, well done. But, there are some flaws to it. Try and polish it up with my critique in mind, so we can strive to get an even better concept or final product that enhances both the site and the users using it in a convenient way

I hope you can agree with me on some points/ratings.
